Renewals

adult materials except videocassettes, DVDs and computer software can
be renewed once and all children's materials can be renewed twice.
A valid library card must be presented to renew materials at the circulation
desk. Materials can be renewed by telephone with a valid OCLN library card number
or remotely via the library's Web
catalog, unless the item is overdue or on reserve for another patron.
Items borrowed from non-OCLN libraries include Virtual Catalog materials and
Interlibrary Loan materials. Virtual Catalog materials may not be renewed. Interlibrary
Loan materials may be renewed only with the permission of the owning library.
Interlibrary Loan renewals may be requested from the Interlibrary Loan Department
(617-376-1319).
Returns
Except for items borrowed from non-OCLN libraries, materials can be returned
at any OCLN library. Interlibrary Loan and Virtual Catalog materials picked
up at a Quincy library location must also be returned to a Quincy library.
Compact discs, audiocassettes, videocassettes, DVDs and ebooks must be returned
to the circulation desk or to the inside book drops (at the
Main Library only). The Main Library's outside book return
is open at all times. North Quincy and Wollaston Branch book
returns are open when those libraries are closed.
Holds
Holds on Old Colony Library Network materials can be placed in person at the
computer catalog, by telephone with a valid OCLN library card number, or remotely
via the library's Web
catalog. Books, audiocassettes, CDs, videocassettes and DVDs from other
OCLN libraries may be requested in Quincy, but restrictions may apply.
Materials not owned by any OCLN library may be requested from non-OCLN libraries
directly via the Virtual Catalog
or by submitting an Interlibrary
Loan request.
Non-OCLN Materials
Non-OCLN materials are materials borrowed from non-OCLN libraries. Non-OCLN
materials borrowed via the Virtual Catalog have a loan period of 28 days with
no renewals. Materials borrowed via Interlibrary Loan have a loan period of
14 days with no automatic renewals. If a renewal of an Interlibrary Loan item
is needed, it should be requested from the Interlibrary
Loan Department (617-376-1319). No renewals of Interlibrary Loan items are
permitted without authorization from the Interlibrary Loan Department.
