The TCPL Adult Summer Reading program is going through its Terrific Twos! And just like the children’s and teens’ summer reading challenge, we invite adults to read to “Build a Better World” from now until August 30.

Our second year has set a brisk pace with registrations, though it’s not too late to join in the challenge. Adults ages 18 and older can create an account online. For every title you log, you gain one step, or “point”, towards a prize. For every book review you complete, for every adult program you attend at any branch, and for every Quincy nonprofit at which you volunteer, you’ll earn two steps towards a prize. We have suggestions about where to volunteer in Quincy on our website. This is all done on the honor code, so please play fair.

If you’d like to challenge yourself to read books that inspire you to “Build a Better World,” such as books that focus on making the world more affirming and positive, then that’s great. Or you can read whatever you like - audiobooks and graphic novels count too! We suggest these titles - some match the theme, some are just fun reads. If you’d like more suggestions, hop on our Books & Authors database, check out our Recommendations page, or fill out a Personal Shopper request and have a librarian create a reading list just for you!

The purpose of this adult summer reading program is to not only encourage reading and make it a fun challenge, but also to have a place for Quincy residents to meet with their neighbors and discuss issues of local interest. Be sure to come to our wrap up party starting at 7:00 p.m. on August 30 when the prizes will be awarded. (Keep track of our other events via our Events Calendar.) Prizes will be books, official TCPL drawstring bags, and coupons to our Friends bookstore. Thanks to the Friends for donating the bags and coupons.
