Class Visits & Library Tours
The library invites teachers and homeschoolers to bring your
students for a visit. To arrange a visit at the Main Library,
contact us by e-mail or
phone (617-376-2411). To visit a branch, please call the branch
you wish to visit directly to make arrangements.
The
Children's Department offers storytimes and tours to daycare, school and
other groups. Group leaders are urged to call at least three weeks in
advance to schedule a visit. The months of September, May and June are
the most popular. If you wish children in your group to receive library
cards, applications must be filled out and returned to the library at
least one week before the visit. Children who do not have cards will be
entered into our computer system and notice of any fines or overdue materials
will be printed if necessary. Children must be able to print their first
and last names or be enrolled in kindergarten in order to receive a card.
A parent or legal guardian must sign the application before a card is
issued.
Thomas
Crane Public Library is a member of the Old Colony Library Network and
honors cards from all Old Colony communities. Group leaders and children
living outside of Quincy should check to see if their hometown library
card is valid; if not, a Quincy card can be issued.
Library
cards will be issued on the day of your visit to children who need them.
The number and type of items that may be checked out are at the group
leader’s discretion. Anyone wishing to check out materials must present
a library card free from all fines and overdue items. If your group will
be researching a particular topic, please inform us at the time the visit
is scheduled so we may prepare the necessary materials.
