Lowell Lecture Series
The Lowell Lecture Series is sponsored by the Lowell Institute, established in 1836 with the specific mission of making great ideas accessible to all people, free of charge. During the series’ long history, speakers have included Charles Dickens, William James, Margaret Mead, William Makepeace Thackeray and, more recently, Salman Rushdie, Howard Zinn, Gore Vidal, and Dennis Lehane. Lectures are held at the Boston Public Library and are free to the public.

National Park Service
At a variety of Massachusetts National Historical Sites and Parks, learn about the social, economic, environmental, maritime, and literary history of the northeast.

Quincy Historical Society
Throughout the year, QHS presents guest historians, authors, musicians, artists, and actors in discussions of history and historically-informed performances. Topics range from fascinating insights into Quincy and area history through the whole span of American history.

Learning Links Technology Center
Quincy Community Action Program's community technology access center offers free on-site technical help, tutoring, and computer classes for low-income people who do not have access to a computer and/or the Internet.

1000 Southern Artery Senior Citizens Center
Computer classes for adults aged 62 and older. Open to non-residents for a small fee. For more information, call 617-471-1000.

Thomas Crane Public Library Computer Tutorials and Classes
Never used a mouse? Need some basic instruction on using the Internet? Library staff members are available by appointment for one-on-one training sessions in the Main Library computer lab. Get help with anything from creating an address and using email to surfing the Web for information, including how to fill out online forms and search for subjects that interests you. Please call 617-376-1316 to schedule a convenient time. You will receive a password that allows you to come back into the lab any time we are open, to practice and get further help. In addition to basic tutorials, free hands-on group classes are offered monthly on topics such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher, and digital photo editing with Picasa.
