Learn to Read: Become a Student

We welcome students to the LVM-Quincy program, where we believe “Life is an Open Book” – it’s never too late to learn. In our program, you can learn to read and write and may also take basic computer skills classes and Internet search workshops at the library.

How to become a student
First, you must call the LVM-Quincy office at (617) 376-1314 to schedule an interview. The interview gives us the information needed to match you with a tutor. A match is based on several factors:

  • A place to meet that is convenient for both student and tutor
  • Days and times convenient for student and tutor
  • Your interests and instructional needs

The Massachusetts Department of Education requires that you take skills assessment before being matched with a tutor. The MAPT test or the TABE test is administered upon intake and again after 30 instructional hours.

Have questions?
Please call us at (617) 376-1314.

All calls to this number are confidential.
