Summer reading, storytimes and nursery rhymes - These programs are for ages 4 and under.

Mail Library Meeting Room
Every Wednesday evening will be filled with activities for children and adults to do together. Join us for an hour of interactive stories, partner dances, playing and and singing together. This six week program is designed for adults and children to enjoy stories and songs as a family. This is a great time for you and your children to sing, dance, listen and talk with each other. This program is cosponsored by the Quincy Arts council and the Friends of the Thomas Crane Public Library.

Mother Goose and Little Bo Peep

Ages 0-3 with an adult
Main Library Front Lawn (Main Library Large Meeting room in case of rain)
Join children's librarians Jane Miller and Gail Columbare on the library lawn as they present Mother Goose and Little Bo-Peep: a Nursery Rhyme and Song Extravaganza. This is a fun-filled program of stories and songs for children ages 4 months to 4 years old accompanied by an adult. This program is especially geared toward very young children. The show will go on come rain or shine; in case of rain we will move into the large meeting room. Meeting room space is limited to the first 125 people; when we reach capacity we will close the doors. Sponsored by the Friends of the Thomas Crane Public Library.

Preschool Discovery: Super Science
Thursday, July 16th from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Bring your preschooler in to do some of our favorite science activities from the past year of Preschool Discovery. Did you have fun mixing colorful baking soda and vinegar? Did you miss out on making light-up constellations? Come in and try out those activities and more! Drop in any time during this hour and a half of science. 

Music & Movement with Rubi

Sing and dance with Rubi Lichauco! Rubi brings her popular preschool program to Quincy so put on your favorite dancing shoes and join us for this lively mix of music and movement! No registration required.

Sparky's Puppets presents "Every Hero Has a Story" a special puppet show. You never know who will save the day. It's not always the biggest and strongest! This show is a lively collection of tales about some surprising heroes. Watch a tiny mouse save a huge lion. Follow the adventures of a clever kitten who travels to the moon to solve some puzzling riddles. And discover an unexpected character who proves to be the "greatest of all!" 

Teddy Bear Storytime

Join Children's librarian Cathy deVeer and Quinn Z. Bear at the North Quincy branch for stories and songs for children ages 2-5 accompanied by an adult. Feel free to wear your comfy jammies and bring along your favorite stuffed friends as we celebrate summer with vacation stories.

Amazing magician Mike Bent presents Super You! Hero Training Academy. Using hilarious comedy, amazing magic, crazy puppets, music, sound effects and riveting storytelling, this magic show will help kids discover their inner "super powers" and become certified Agents of R.E.A.D.

Come meet the Purple Cow! Wilson-certified reading instructor Nicole DeBassio and her very purple friend will lead kids aged 4-6 in activities designed to lay a foundation of letters and sounds that will help them become fluent readers.

Stuffed Animal Superheroes
Tuesday, August 11th at 10:00 a.m.
Ages 2+ accompanied by an adult
Main Library Meeting Room 
Children ages 2 and older, accompanied by an adult, are invited to stop by the Children's Room any time between 10:00 a.m. and noon to create a superhero costume for a stuffed animal, doll or other toy. Bring along your favorite toy and turn them into a superhero.

Reptiles are one of the most misunderstood and feared groups in the animal kingdom. To help us learn and understand these fascinating animals we welcome New England Reptile and Raptor Exhibits! Learn about the natural history, biology, adaptations, habitats and more when you meet live amphibians, snakes, lizards, turtles, tortoises and crocodilians!

Join Jungle Jim for this high energy interactive show as he leads young patrons through the rigors of what it takes to be a true superhero! This program captures children's attention by turning patrons into superheroes themselves. The show progresses to talk about the heroes in our daily lives. What is it about them that makes them heroes? Who are the heroes in the children's lives? As a reward for the children completing their big challenge, Jungle Jim will meet his toughest challenge and attempt to climb inside of a 6 foot balloon!

Preschool Discovery: Mystery Science
Thursday, August 20th at 10:00 a.m.
Wollaston Branch Library
Ages 2-5
Bring your preschooler in to try out some mystery science activities. Examine your fingerprints and shoe prints, test your memory, try some color chromatography and more! Drop in any time during this hour and a half of science.
