ANNOUNCEMENT: Top Floor Closure @ Main Library (Reopens 2/6)

Update 2/5: The Top Floor of the Main Library will reopen on Thursday, February 6. Full computer, print, copy, and scan/fax services will resume. The nonfiction collection and local history collection will be available to the public again. Thank you for your patience!

Update 1/31: Our painting project is taking longer than expected! The top floor will remain closed until further notice. Limited Computer, Print, Scan, and Fax services have been moved to the Atrium.

Update 1/30: However, the Atrium services (No Public Computers) will be CLOSED on Saturday, February 1 from 9 AM – 1 PM. Branch Library Services are unaffected. We recommend visiting the North Quincy Library on Saturday 2/1 for full print, copying, scan/fax, and public computer services during open hours 9 AM – 5 PM.

The Thomas Crane Public Library is proud to announce that we are beginning an interior refresh of the Main Library, located at 40 Washington St., starting on January 27, 2025.

For the next year or so, we will be updating paint and carpet, adding new ADA compliant and multilingual signage, additional study and meeting spaces, and new furniture. We look forward to offering you a brighter and more modern space that is more accessible to all users, in every way.

Step one is to repaint the top floor of the Library. Consequently, the second floor will be closed from Monday, January 27 through Friday, January 31.

We will be offering some limited computer services from the atrium. There will be 6 chromebooks set up on the bar seating against the windows, and they’ll be set to offer 30 minute sessions.

Additional chromebooks will be available for first come, first serve checkout. They will not circulate with the bags or a mouse. During this time, we will require a library card for checkout, and not hold ID or require patrons to sign the lending policy. Checkout period is 2 hours.

We will offer free printing up to 20 pages per patron per day. Patrons will have to email their print jobs to an email account (print@quincylib.org) and staff will release the printouts to a staff printer.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer photocopying at the Main Library during the painting project.  Patrons can use any of our three branches for photocopying.

We thank you for your patience while we work diligently to provide a better Library for you!
