Main Library Floor Guide
A place for every purpose
In an effort to provide comfortable spaces for a variety of library activities, the Main Library has two designated noise level zones: Conversation and Quiet.
Conversation Zones
- Quiet conversation with others—in person or via phone—is allowed. We do ask that you refrain from loud talking even in these areas, as a courtesy to other patrons
- The following areas are Conversation Zones:
- Ground Floor: Children’s Services and Atrium
- First Floor: Teen Room
- Second Floor: All Public Areas
Quiet Zone
- Please keep any conversations brief and at a whispered level
- Most of the First Floor is a Quiet Zone
- The Richardson building is a Quiet Zone
In all Zones, please use ear phones for any audio, and keep the volume low enough so it cannot be heard by other patrons.
Lidded drinks are allowed throughout the Main Library, but please restrict consumption of all food and snacks to the Ground Floor Atrium.
