Quincy 400 Celebrations meets Massschusetts 250 with special Battles of Lexington and Concord lectures!
The City of Quincy proudly marks 400 years of rich history, community, and culture since its settlement in 1625. Known as the birthplace of two U.S. Presidents, John Adams and John Quincy Adams, Quincy has been at the forefront of shaping American democracy and innovation. This milestone is an opportunity to honor our past, celebrate our present, and envision a bright future together.
Simultaneously, April 19, 2025 marks the 250th anniversary of the Battles of Lexington and Concord, the first battles of the American war for independence! In celebration of these feats, the Thomas Crane Public Library invites the public to partake in an exciting two-part lecture series starting this month!
Join us at the Thomas Crane Public Library for Quincy 400 Lecture Series: A State of Rebellion Part 1 with Bob Damon and Ed Fitzgerald on Thursday, March 27 from 7 – 8 PM at the Main Library on 40 Washington St, Quincy. On April 19, 2025, Massachusetts will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the battles of Lexington and Concord, the first battles of the American war for independence. While these battles were the start of the military phase of what is commonly called the American Revolution, they were, in fact, the direct result of a mostly unknown social, political, and bloodless revolution that took place in Massachusetts from spring 1774 to April 1775. Join Quincy Historical Society Director Emeritus Ed Fitzgerald and Quincy Public Historian Bob Damon for a program that explores the ‘quiet phase’ of the start of the American Revolution in Massachusetts and Quincy.
This year promises a wide array of programs and activities designed to celebrate 400 years of the people and ideas that have shaped not only Quincy but also the fabric of America. Additionally, we’ll have a year-round Quincy 400 display with rotating subjects/themes each month as well as Quincy 400 trivia sheets and Quincy 400 bingo! All are available at the Main Library. Bingo sheets are available at all Quincy Library branches. Stay tuned for more events to come!
Join us as we commemorate Quincy’s vibrant legacy and celebrate the shared pride of our community. Together, let’s honor our history and look forward to the next chapter.
This program is made possible by generous donations to the Friends of the Thomas Crane Public Library.
