Children’s Summer Reading
LEVEL UP this summer with our summer reading events and Read & Bead!
Summer events this year include storytimes, puppet shows, arts and crafts, movies, concerts, workshops, LEGO, science, bubbles, building, and more! To find all the details and dates, check our calendar HERE!
Our summer events, activities, and Read & Bead program kick off on Friday, June 27th at 2 PM at the Main Library! We’ll be on the Olmsted Lawn in good weather and indoors in the atrium and large meeting room if it rains.
Read & Bead for Summer 2025
Earn beads for time spent reading this summer!
- Come into any Thomas Crane Library location to pick up a paper tracker, or track online! To track online, make an account on Beanstack. Call Children’s Services at 617-376-1300 x4 if you have any questions.
- We will begin giving out tracking sheets and beading chains at our kickoff event on Friday, June 27.
Track your reading to earn a bead for every 15 minutes. Trade your plain beads in for fancier beads!
15 minutes = 1 plain bead
4 plain beads = 1 stripe bead
8 plain beads = 1 UV bead
16 plain beads = 1 glitter star bead
When you finish 12 hours of reading, you get a game controller bangle AND a coupon for the Friends of the Thomas Crane Public Library Bookstore! Pick up your beads by August 29. - If you are tracking with Beanstack, download the app to make it nice and simple:
- Start tracking! Color in an item for every 15 minutes and come into any Thomas Crane Public Library location to pick out your beads.
- Is your child too young for beads? Ask for a sheet of stickers instead!
Looking for the Quincy Public Schools Summer Reading lists? You can find them HERE. Remember, these lists are suggestions, NOT required! We recommend reading anything you like this summer, so long as you’re reading. The lists are a good place to start, but supplies of these titles are limited and may require a bit of waiting. There are plenty of other books to read while you wait!
