QUINCY — Director Sara Slymon is pleased to share that after twelve years, the Thomas Crane Public Library Bookstore will be moving to a new location inside the library’s main building in Quincy Center.
Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 5, the Friends of the Crane Library Bookstore will officially open its operations in a new location at the main library’s atrium entrance, 40 Washington St. The bookstore is moving to the atrium entrance from its previous location at the rear of the library on Spear Street.
“We are thrilled to have collaborated with the Friends of the Library and the Book Store Committee to identify and develop the new location of the bookstore,” said Director Sara Slymon. “We hope that with a higher visibility location, the store will be even more successful than it has been over the past several years!”
Designed to encourage patrons to browse and shop in an easily accessible and modern environment, the new bookstore will harness the energy of the Crane Library’s main entrance and atrium. Formerly the library’s café space, the bookselling spot will connect patrons directly to the library’s Washington Street entrance and adjacent parking lot.
The new atrium bookstore will continue its commitment to quality books, music and movies for all ages. In addition, the move to the Washington Street entrance is designed to encourage continued donations and grow new and diverse volunteers and patrons.
The tradition of selling books at a discount is motivated by one goal- to support the library and the enrichment of patrons and the greater Quincy community. All bookstore proceeds will be used to support library events and services.
The Thomas Crane Public Library is currently soliciting high-quality book donations for the grand opening and is hoping to offer more hours beginning in October.
The Thomas Crane Public Library Bookstore currently operates on Thursdays from 6 – 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
