QUINCY — The staff of the Thomas Crane Public Library, in partnership with Wollaston Library, are proud to present two new bi-monthly book clubs.
The clubs, the Rush Hour Reading Group and the Banned Books Club will meet bi-monthly to discuss selected readings.
Rush Hour Reading Group
WHEN:
Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 7-8:30 p.m.
WHERE:
Classroom, Main Library, 40 Washington St.
WHAT:
The Rush Hour Reading Group will be reading and discussing “Walkable City” by Jeff Speck to explore how transportation impacts communities.
The group is partnering with Quincycles, a group of Quincy residents advocating for bicycle infrastructure within the city, for this discussion series. Participants will discuss transportation equity, multimodal access and change within the transportation system. The group will also debate how the built environment does or does not provide safety and connection. Learn more about Quincycles here.
A limited number of copies will be available for pickup at the Main Library Circulation Desk.
Banned Books Club
WHEN:
Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 7-8 p.m.
WHERE:
Wollaston Library, 41 Beale St.
WHAT:
The Banned Books Club will be reading and discussing “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” by Mark Haddon. This book group will feature frequently challenged and banned books. Every fourth Wednesday of the month, the group will meet and discuss a book that has been challenged by libraries and other institutions across the United States.
Copies of the book will be available at the Wollaston Library
These events are free to attend and no registration is required.
